Esta canción es un poco difícil de cantar si no tenemos mucha soltura en la pronunciación. Las palabras no son difíciles, pero el ritmo hace que sea difícil articular los sonidos con fluidez.

Pero como ocurre con todo, la excelencia –o casi- se consigue con la práctica.

En cuanto a la gramática y el vocabulario, hay varios aspectos interesantes.

Por ejemplo, en la tercera estrofa nos encontramos con  Why, que conocemos como palabra interrogativa que significa por qué. Sin embargo, tiene también otros usos, como en este caso, que funciona como elemento exclamativo y con el sentido de  vamos, ¡anda!, ¡mira!, etc.

También es interesante la expresión mighty fine, que es una forma enfática informal.

Sabemos que fine significa bien, excelente, bonito, fino, delicado… siempre con una connotación positiva.

Por su parte, la palabra mighty significa, literalmente, poderoso. Y cuando se une a un adjetivo, adquiere valor enfático: muy, en gran medida, extremadamente…:

mighty beautiful (superguapa, guapísima…);

mighty difficult (muy difícil, dificilísimo…)

Por eso la expresión mighty fine se refiere a algo que está superbien, fantástico, genial, fenomenal… aunque aquí además de énfasis también tiene un poquito de ironía, claro.

A continuación nos encontramos con la palabra oughta, que  es  una forma acortada y coloquial de ought to, que significa debería.

Es un verbo de los llamados ‘modales’ o ‘defectivos’ que tanto gustan a los estudiantes,  que indica consejo o sugerencia y que es sinónimo de should:

You should study = you ought to study

Oughta también suele aparecer como oughtta, y como hemos dicho, es una forma coloquial, semejante a wanna (want to), gonna (going to), hafta (have to), etc.

Por último, una palabra que suele causar confusión: ‘til.

Significa hasta, y es sinónimo de till y de until.

A veces se dice que till es una forma abreviada de until, pero en realidad no es así, son simplemente dos sinónimos, aunque until es más habitual que till.

Por otro lado ‘til, se considera más informal que las anteriores, y se usa sobre todo en canciones, frases hechas coloquiales, frases publicitarias, etc.
